The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is celebrating Month of the Young Child in April, 100 days into NAEYC’s 100th year, honoring a century of dedication to young children and the educators who make a difference every day.
Each April, the NAEYC invites educators, families, and communities to come together for the Week of the Young Child (WOYC April 11-17); a joyful celebration of early learning, young children, and the adults that support them.
This year, we are going to celebrate the entire month! We have planned some activities for our Joyful Noise children and staff, ending the month with a reading of The Very Hungry Caterpillar by our very own Ms. Bev for you and your family to enjoy!
Month of the Young Child highlights the critical role of play, creativity and collaboration in a child’s development. This is a time to recognize the importance of high-quality early childhood education and to advocate for the professionals who make it possible.
Please join us in this celebration by planning engaging experiences at home with your child! You and your family are invited to join us on “Togetherness” Thursday, April 30th at 6:15pm in the Rec Room for Ms. Bev’s reading of The Very Hungry Caterpillar, along with a snack and little craft project. (*Joyful Noise will close early at 5:30pm to set up for the event*)
You can join the movement by sharing your home celebrations on social media using #WOYC26, and help shine a spotlight on the power of early childhood education-celebrating NAEYC’s 100 years of progress and inspiring the next 100!
I have attached our “agenda” for the month so you can chat with your child about what is planned for each day. We are very excited for this and look forward to a month of celebrations!
Thank you for helping us celebrate our sweet, young learners and the educators who love them so much!
